Having been gluten-free for several years now, it has been a LONG time since I’ve used a professional quality hair line. Or course there has been the odd trip to the salon, which left my scalp broken out in an itchy rash, but other that than, I’ve simply stuck to gluten-free natural store brands. So it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that I realized my hair’s true potential!

I received some products from Surface Hair Care (all of which are gluten-free and contain nothing but natural, sustainable ingredients), which simply blew away my expectations! After just one wash and conditioning with their Trinity products, my hair was shinier, more lustrous, and had much more body. Then I tried out their Trinity Protein Cream, which kind of makes up for all the mean things I do to my hair (like heat styling, coloring, etc.), so by the time I got to their Theory Aerosol Finishing Spray I was prepared to love it, and I 100% do!

Please check out my latest video, in which I tell you all about just how fabulous Surface Hair Care is! The only down side is that it is not currently available to order online, but must be purchased at a salon, but the great news is that if a salon near you carries Surface, that means that you can go to the salon for an entirely gluten-free experience!!

To locate a salon near you that carries Surface, visit SurfaceHair.com.

A hot topic on Twitter this week has been Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s promotion of her book, The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide, and while I have not yet read the book–though I am eager to–I liked what she had to say on The View about it. I also like that I’ve heard that there is a cosmetic section in the book.

Of course, whilst all this drama (that I’m not sure I agree with) has been going on–Elaine Monarch of The Celiac Disease Foundation announced that: the inaccuracies in this book are potentially dangerous and detrimental to celiacs and to those yet to be diagnosed if people self diagnose and start eating GF–I have been busy on my quest to find a safe gluten-free dog food for our adopted GWP Waylon. Waylon seems to be better off with less gluten in his diet, but I am also being a bit selfish in the matter and trying to avoid contaminating myself three times a day as well (via handling his food).

Isn’t it just amazing when you consider all of the small and unexpected ways in which you can get glutened?

Anyway, it’s a bit off topic from gluten-free beauty, but handling your pet’s food can most certainly cause you to ingest some amount of gluten, so do be careful!

I truly value Afterglow’s committment to natural, gluten-free cosmetics, and their red carpet worthy cosmetics are utterly impressive. As a result, I have added several new favorite Afterglow products to the site, and have just wrapped up one of my very first (of many) videos featuring their buzzy-worthy, professional finish products in a comparison/contrast to those of Jane Iredale which are wonderful for everyday beauty.

Please visit the newly updated NaturallyDahling.com and don’t forget to check out my new product comparison video:

A couple of months ago I spoke with a very kind representative of ELISA Tek, who sent me a sample of their EZ Gluten Test Kit to try out. I was so excited to finally have a way to do my very own testing to ensure that the products I recommend on Naturally Dah’ling are absolutely gluten free.

Here is the first of what will be many videos to come demonstrating the use of ELISA Tek’s EZ Gluten Test Kit, a simple, effective way to test foods and products for gluten. In this first video I tested Dr. Hauschka’s Natural Lipstick (which was previously verified gluten free via the Dr. Hauschka company). And was able to proudly confirm that yes, it really is gluten free!

Here’s my demonstration–and during the testing I really didn’t know which way the test would go!
