Last night’s Global Green: Green and Gorgeous event seemed a great success! With my dear friend and fellow New Oreleanian, Andrea, as my date, we were pleased to attend the event, which helped raise money for the sustainable redevelopment of New Orleans, a cause that both Andrea and I feel very passionately about.

The crowd was young, energetic and full of passion. The eco-cocktails by VeeV, Square One, Yellow Jersey, etc. were delicious, and the organic sweet treats looked divine! The fashion show proved that eco-friendly clothes = eco-fabulous styles! And I was so pleased to try out Jane Iredale’s new lip crayons and speak with the founder of Juice Beauty (I will elaborate on this later, very exciting stuff!).

The night was amazing, and the gift bags were even better, check out all of these goodies!

I was also so pleased to find a locally made dress in the precious vintage boutique, Painted Bird. Though I did do some last minute alterations that involved the removal of a sleeve–thank goodness of all that sewing I did as a kid!

Amazing actress Kate Bosworth and “Sex and the City” hottie Jason Lewis will host the evening of green cocktails and eco-fashion shows. Proceeds from the evening will benefit projects to rebuild New Orleans with sustainable methods and materials.

Born and raised a New Orleans girl, I have seen the sad state in which the city still remains, but the efforts by charitable, green groups are bringing to the city new hope, new life and new chances. So start off this Holiday season with a charitable heart, and help rebuild New Orleans, and further the development of green building methods!

Come out for this evening of eco-fashion and fun, and as they say in New Orleans: laissez les bon temps roulez!

Though I usually take a plastic cup of water with me in the car, I do occasionally grab a bottle of water while I’m out. This has, of course, been plaguing me: another bottle produced, all that energy wasted. Needless to say, the purchase of a reusable water bottle was on my pending list.

Last week, however, my plan seemed shattered when our water filter began acting up. We have been loving our Brita Chrome Faucet Filter ever since its purchase a year ago, it is much more convenient for us than the pitcher. But with water now leaking out of all ends, mixing the filtered with unfiltered water, I was beginning to fear I would have to postpone the purchase of my reusable water bottle and instead buy a new filter.

Much to my surprise, after just a quick e-mail to Brita, inquiring about a replacement valve or ring, we unexpectedly received a brand new Brita Filter in the mail! Our Brita is back and better than ever, leaving us free to filter our own water. All I needed now, was the bottle.

Today a trip to the Elephant Pharmacy brought me to a display of Kleen Kanteen Bottles on sale for 20% off!

I am so glad that everything aligned, and that I can now do my part by toting my very own Kleen Kanteen bottle with me when I am on the go!
